The history of croissant

I just read a comic that shows the history of croissant.  Whoaaa.. I just knew it after eating croissant for more than 20 years.  The comics says that the croissant was firstly baked iin 1686 in Budapest, Hungary.

During that time, a Hungarian baker was working late at night and noticed that there were an odd noise of army marching in the tunnel under the city wall.  He alerted the military leaders.  Hungary military finally found out that there were Turks’ army trying to attack by passing tunnel.  The tunnel was destroyed and Hungary won the war.

The baker is then anointed as hero.  Being humble, the baker is just asking a special privilege to bake a special pastry commemorating the win. The pastry was bended and shaped like a crescent, the symbol of Islam, and presumably meant that the Hungarians had eaten the Turks for lunch.
