Christopher Paul Gardner = Nouveau Riche

Nouveau Riche is a French word for “new rich” or “new money”. This term is dedicated for persons that are becoming rich in his/her generation, not because of inheritance. Theses are the people that previously struggle for daily economic life and in the end they could achieve whatever they want.

I consider Chirstopher Paul Gardner as one of the Nouveau Riche. I just knew about this guy when I watched the movie The Pursuit of Happyness, starred by actor Will Smith. The story is quite interesting to see how Christopher Paul Gardner struggled to be a medical equipment sales while trying to raise his toddler son. To make the things worst, there was a time where Chirstopher became homeless because he would not be able to pay the rent. Everything changed when he met a guy riding Ferarri. When he found out that the work of that guy was a stock broker, he was determined to try his luck as stock broker trainee.

His ability in match and his discipline changed in his career life. Even during the training sessions, many people underestimated him, he did not give up. 5 years after he passed the licensed exam as the stock broker, he stared his own company named “Gardner Rich & Co”, in Chicago, Illinois. Everything started to pay off and he became millionaire.
