Being Persistent!

I have subordinates that submit weekly reports to me.  In the weekly reports are the activities and problems that they encountered during the week.  I prepared the template so that they could fill up the points in detailed.  First week, I need to remind them that everything should be in general as the summary and put the details in the bottom, just in case I have more time to read on.

Second and third week the reports seemed to be good and I am satisfied with it.  After 3 months, I started to noticed that the summaries are changed but some details are not.  I looked upon the previous reports and found out that some of my subordinates have been doing copy paste of details for 2-3 reports. Grrrr…. it must have been that they thought I never have time to read the details.

As expected, I called them and they tried to give reasons that really the the problems are not resolved.  That is why they just copy paste it.  But in the end, I answered back by saying that why I should hire you if you can not resolve the problems???.   They just kept their mouth closed after that.

I am basically the type of person that would like to help if my subordinates have problems.  However, having a subordinate tries to cheat me!!! I could not tolerate that!

If you have some subordinates, try to be persistent to monitor them.  Not all of people can work with minimum supervisions.  I think it is just a nature to some people that they only want to work if they are monitored.  There is no goal or innovation from these kind of people.
